The Ekiti Operations Office in collaboration with the Ondo SEMA carried out an assessment of ocean surge disaster which occured in Aiyetoro community, Ilaje Local Government in Ondo State today 22nd April 2023.

It was discovered that the disaster occured as a result of the increased volume and tidal effects of the Atlantic Ocean which rised due to heavy rainfall.

It was observed that more than half of the community has been washed away as a result of the disaster which has now become a yearly occurrence.

Many residential buildings, place of worships, town hall, technical college, docking yard, power supply plant, speed boats, spare part shops and other public infrastructures were completely washed away.
