The World Economic Forum is an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

Incorporated as a not-for-profit foundation in 1971, with its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, the Forum is tied to no political, partisan or national interests.

As a result of our organization’s successful growth, we are now looking for a:

HEAD OF AFRICA MEMBERSHIP

The World Economic Forum’s Membership Team establishes and manages strategic engagement of business stakeholders in relevant Forum initiatives and events.

As Head of Africa Membership, your main responsibilities will include:

• Developing a compelling and sustainable value proposition for the African Regional Partner community
• Engaging, managing and retaining World Economic Forum Members and Partners from the African continent
• Identifying core areas of interest for the African business community and translate them into a year-long programme aligned with the multistakeholder vision of the World Economic Forum
• Collaborating with the Head of the Regional Agenda team for Africa (responsibility for government engagement) and relevant Forum industry teams to ensure a coordinated engagement approach
• Acting as the main reference point for African business knowledge within the Forum, leveraging relevant teams, initiatives and expertise
• Focusing business engagement efforts on underrepresented African regions, including West and East Africa, with a particular emphasis on Nigeria

The ideal candidate will:

• Have a broad intellectual background with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration, economics or international relations
• Have a minimum of 10 years of work experience within or relating to the African business community
• Have experience and understanding of the African business environment, with a particular focus on West Africa
• Demonstrate the insight and maturity required to connect effectively with CEOs, chairpersons and board-level executives
• Be willing to manage and coach a small, entrepreneurial team within a strong business development environment; be results-oriented and able to take initiative
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in spoken and written English (and ideally French)
