The annual AFSIC, now in its 6th year, takes place 2-4th May in London. AFSIC has rapidly developed into one of the most important Africa investor events globally and is now believed to be the largest Africa investment event taking place annually in Europe. AFSIC attracts business leaders from across Africa, many of whom will be representing their countries in the new Country Focused networking sessions introduced this year. With business leaders from around 30 African countries expected to attend in 2018 and over 150 speakers confirmed to present AFSIC offers the expected 700+ delegates the chance to develop and nurture a robust, extremely high quality network of business contacts across the continent in preparation for Africa’s continued emergence as the most exciting investment destination globally.

The wide spread of business leaders attending from across Africa attracts a highly significant proportion of major institutional investors focused on investment into Africa, and those considering the increasing merits of doing so. These investors include Sovereign Wealth Funds, Supranational investors, listed equity and private equity investors, African regulated asset managers, alongside impact investors such as DFIs and microfinance focused investors. In addition to African business leaders and Investors AFSIC is well represented by major Dealmakers focused on Africa, such as Investment Bankers, Stockbrokers, Corporate Finance experts, Fixed Income and Debt specialists, M&A bankers many of whom attend the Meet African Dealmaker event which takes place on the first night at  AFSIC 2018.

AFSIC is entirely investment and deal focused, and has multiple networking events designed within the 2 and half day event, which has resulted in the event gaining popularity with investors, dealmakers and business leaders across Africa.

Along with ABSA Corporate Investment Bank as premier sponsor AFSIC 2018 has attracted some very high quality sponsors and speakers and offers the attending delegate an excellent variety of networking opportunities and access to unrivalled content and knowledge. This year in conjunction with FSD Africa, AFSIC 2018 is hosting some new sessions focused on opportunities offered by the growth of the remittance markets as well as a special panel focusing on Women investing in Africa. Based in Nairobi, FSD Africa is a UK Government agency for inclusive financial sector development in sub-Saharan Africa. It is mandated by the Department for International Development (DFID) to be a risk taking capacity builder and investor in both the retail and capital market fields.  CDC, the British Government’s development arm is a sponsor of the Meet African Dealmaker event, and CGAP, part of the World Bank Group has supported an exciting new session on more innovative financing models suitable to the African environment.

AFSIC is fast becoming the premier investor event for Africa. Its mandate helps broaden horizons and broker new partnerships focussed on good quality, long-term investments in Africa.  AFSIC aims to unlock a valuable dividend for both investors and companies operating within the new dynamic African economic environment.
