Zhang Dejiang Meets with President Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone

On December 1, 2016, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone.

Zhang Dejiang said that since the establishment of China-Sierra Leone diplomatic relations 45 years ago, the two countries have achieved high-level political mutual trust, constantly deepened cooperation, always maintained sincere friendship and unity and helped each other. Attaching importance to developing its friendly relations with the Parliament of Sierra Leone, the NPC is willing to strengthen close bilateral exchanges at all levels, carry out experience exchanges in legislation and governance and administration of state affairs, improve the policy and legal environment for mutually beneficial cooperation, promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges and regional and non-governmental contact, consolidate the social foundation of bilateral friendship, advance more touchdown of the ten major China-Africa cooperation plans put forward by President Xi Jinping in Sierra Leone and translate the important consensus reached by both heads of state into practical cooperation outcomes, so as to benefit the two countries and their people as well as boost in-depth development of China-Sierra Leone relations.

Ernest Bai Koroma thanked the Chinese government and people for their strong support in Sierra Leone's fight against Ebola. He said that China is a real friend of Sierra Leone. The country will continue to devote itself to enhancing bilateral friendship and deepening exchanges and cooperation in such areas as infrastructure, agriculture, health and education.
