Committee Supports DBE’s Approach in Dealing with Suspected Grade 12 Exam Paper Leak

The Portfolio Committee on Basic Education (DBE) has supported the approach the Department of Basic Education is taking in dealing with the reported Grade 12 maths exam paper leak in the Mopani district.

The Chairperson of the Committee, Ms Nomalungelo Gina, said the reported leak has a potential to compromise the quality of the education system.

“We support DBE’s approach to report the matter to the law enforcement agencies, and that the district be quarantined to establish the patterns and the extent of the challenge. Investigation into the matter has to continue and be done expeditiously,” Ms Gina said.

An alleged Grade 12 exam paper leak has been reported in Limpopo’s Mopani district, and the Department has moved swiftly to investigate and ensure appropriate action is being taken.

Ms Gina said all of us ought to be vigilant and alert to this kind of transgression as it compromises the future of our learners.
