▶    Use only licensed software on your PC and where possible try to ensure that your system, browser and mail are operating on the latest service packs.

▶    Install recognised anti-virus and desktop firewall software to protect against viruses and other malicious programmes (including spyware). Update this regularly. This software is available from all leading computer suppliers.
▶    Ensure that no one has unauthorised access to your PC and that no one can physically install unauthorised hardware or software on your PC.

▶    Ensure your PC is programmed so that e-mails cannot be sent without your confirmation. Look under the Help menu  of your e-mail application to find out how to do this.

▶    Don’t open suspicious emails as these could harbour virus files.
▶    Ensure the secrecy of your profile number, PIN and password at all times. Never give this information to anyone.

▶    Regularly change your PIN and password.

▶    Report any unauthorised transactions to the bank as soon as possible.
