In Episode 3 of the African Business Podcasts, Nieros Oyegun, head of network for CDC’s The Africa List talks us through the initiative, which wants to fortify top executives with leadership skills and a peer network that spans across countries.
The programme selects the leading 100 companies in each country based on current performance and future potential. Then two high-performing leaders from each company, nominated by the current CEO or chairman, are invited to join.
Its membership is comprised of executives at large multinationals, local mid-market family businesses, and high growth start-ups from nearly 20 industries.
On 3 December 2019, The Africa List launched the Business Barometer survey with London Business School. It looks at how Sub-Saharan Africa’s economic landscape is changing – Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa have historically attracted the lion’s share of investment into the continent and have consumed the focus of most studies and surveys on Africa. African growth is now being driven from across the continent, beyond the traditional powerhouses and dominant sector.
This survey – the largest of its kind in these countries – shows how business leaders in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia navigate and perceive opportunities and challenges.
Group publisher Omar Ben Yedder also takes us through his usual diary update.
