The world as we know it is rapidly changing those most vulnerable are feeling the extreme effects of these changes. Are you the ONE we are looking for; the ONE to help lead the fight against extreme poverty?

An innovative campaign and advocacy organisation, ONE is backed by over seven million people from around the world who are committed to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. We hold world leaders to account for the promises made to the poorest, and we press them to support better policies and more effective aid. Extreme poverty has already been cut by 60% and can be virtually eliminated by 2030, but only if we act with urgency now.

We are looking for an outstanding, dynamic and passionate person to lead our work as the Executive Director, Africa. The successful person will play a vital part in working towards our vision of an end to extreme poverty which targets the African institutions, the African Union, and lead a tremendous team of staff, consultants and interns toward the achievement of our organisational objectives.

You will lead that team – developing and delivering campaigns, activating our Africa members, and engaging with and convening high level politicians, senior officials, civil society, private sector leaders, and media organisations to coordinate efforts effectively.

Candidates may come from a wide range of backgrounds but will have one commonality: a commitment to the vision and mission of the ONE Campaign. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of senior leadership as well as of designing and implementing effective campaigning strategies. You will have an understanding of Africa and how it fits into the international development agenda, extensive knowledge of African geo-politics, experience with African institutions (AU and economic blocs), and a strong understanding of how advocacy and lobbying, public campaigning, media and popular culture can effectively be combined to deliver policy change. You will possess outstanding capability in strategic thinking (systemic change), demonstrable planning and implementation, and compelling communication skills (a good sense of humour helps). You will also have experience in managing the performance of people and balancing budgets. This person should be comfortable working in (at a minimum) English and French and will be a strong collaborator and team player.

To apply or to download further information on the required qualifications, skills and experience for the role, please visit www.perrettlaver.com/candidates quoting reference 2851. The closing date for applications is mid-day on Friday, 10th February 2017.

The overall salary package is competitive and commensurate depending upon experience.

The role is based in either Johannesburg or Nairobi with significant regional and some international travel.
