WHAT: Maendeleo Policy Forum on Deepening Democracy through Election Management and Stability in Africa

Background: The Maendeleo Policy Forum brings together African leaders, international mediators and negotiators, researchers, policy makers, development practitioners and writers on African issues, to debate on critical issues of development in Africa. The Forum has so far successfully convened five dialogues on topical governance and peacebuilding issues on the African continent. 
The objective of the Wednesday’s forum in Nairobi, which is co-hosted by UNDP and the Africa Policy Institute (API), is to collate lessons and good practices in election management from past elections in Kenya and from selected cases from the rest of Africa with a view to ensuring that elections have integrity and effectively manage diversity. It is intended that the outputs of the Forum will directly feed into on-going and future policy-making and will also be shared with all stakeholders.

Panelists: The main Speaker of the Forum will be Mrs. Charlotte Osei, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), who has successfully presided over the just concluded Ghana 2016 General Elections. 

Format of Dialogue: The dialogue will consist of the main presentations by the Speakers and a question and answer session to facilitate in-depth discussions and contributions.
